Tastes

Slightly more bourbon than sherry cask coming through, but both are present. A decent dram, but imo Balvenie Doublewood has more depth in this category/price range.

A wee bit of sherry and peat on the nose, but incredibly thin on the tongue. Scotch flavored water. The White Claw of scotches. Good for a shooter maybe?

Somewhere between white label and single barrel. Not bad for the price, but also not great.

Banana. 'Nuff said.

Heavy cherry and grass. Not my fav, but now I have a bottle of it.

Second tasting. This time I don't get the oak I did with my last tasting (funny how that works), but now there is an unmistakable floral, grassy sweetness. This sweetness seems to dominate and very little of anything else comes through. Not a bad bourbon, just not the rye I was hoping for.

I think sherry finish to scotch is what bourbon barrel is to beer. That is, they're using it for everything nowadays. That said, this was a well done iteration. I approve. Had it in a flight against HP 12 and HP Full Volume. Dark Origins came out on top.

Not very complex, but a decent dram. I tried this in a flight against some of it's brethren: HP Dark Origins, and HP 12. Out of the three, Full Volume came in last. Mostly due to it being a bit one dimensional. Ironically, I found Full Volume to be the most toned down on the palate. Could use a tube replacement maybe... . . . .
