Springbank 10 Year
Single Malt — Campbeltown, Scotland
Reviewed November 21, 2022 (edited December 13, 2022)Oily mouth feel. Light smoke. Lots of orange peel and spice with that Campbelltown funk. Medium finish length. Reminds me of the Arran 10 but less bright and with a better mouth feel. I would recommend the Bruichladdich Classic Laddie over this. I’m just not a fan of the orange peel. -
Bruichladdich The Classic Laddie
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed November 19, 2022 (edited November 23, 2022)Let this one breath for quite awhile before getting into it. Refreshing and mildly sweet with a fairly oily mouth feel. Nose. I get lots of apples and sweet maltiness with mild baking spices, and wood. Palate. Very much like the nose with a touch of brine. Finish. Consistent with palate slowly morphing to a delightfully long honey tobacco note. I get all the satisfying rich notes I get from an Islay without the peat. I will be keeping a bottle of this on hand for sure. -
Peaty, smokey and wonderful! Very much like the Ardbeg Uigeadail but less smoked meat character and more mellow, possibly a bit more complex. On the nose, less medicinal and bandaid than the Laphroag 10 with more dark fruit. On the palate, not as much sweetness as the Laphroag 10. More dark fruit and spicy. Finish, spicy and smokey. Medium to long finish. Probably my favorite Laphroag and depends on the day if I favor the Lore or the Uigeadail. Edit……I’ve had this bottle for a week now and I it’s all I want to drink. I’ve tried it side by side with the Uigeadail and the Port Charlotte 10 and I have to say I would recommend the Lore over either.
