Light peat with a nice bit of fruity sherry influence. Thin on the mouth feel with more of a burn than you would expect from 40% ABV. I’m not mad I spent money on this dram but I probably won’t do it again.

Peat is present but it’s the briney salty character that is the star here. Initial tasty is briney and wonderful but I always get a sourness on the finish that I don’t dig.

Very much like the 16 with the fruity notes turned up. A very nice dram but the normal 16 does beat this.

Low ABV of 43%. Chill filtered. Color added. This is a rare whiskey that all of that doesn’t matter, it’s still rich deep smokey, fruity, peaty and wonderful. This is a true classic that will always satisfy and should be in every collection.

Nose…..first comes barbecue smoke and earthy peat then comes savory meaty notes with a touch of white pepper and citrus. Palate…..nice mouth feel but not quite oily. Very nice barbecue smoke and mild to medium peat with savory notes and white pepper. Not especially complex but what it has is quite nice. I expect more dark fruit notes from a sherry matured that are not here. Finish……nicely long and like a barbecue shrimp wrapped in pepper bacon. Very good but I’d recommend Laphroaig Lore or Ardbeg Ugeadahl for more complexity or Springbank 15 if you want more dark fruit.

Nice nose with a good bacon or kielbasa note in with soft smoke and peat. Palate, reminded me of Talisker 10 with a little sherry influence. Thin mouth feel. Medium to short finish. Not super impressed.

Reminds me of a watered down Talisker 10. Thin on the mouth feel. The most dominant note I’m getting is pears and a wee bit of apricot and faint smoke. Not at all bad, and nicely balanced but lacks anything that would bring me back to this bottle.

Nose. Lots of BBQ smoke and meaty notes like undercooked pepper bacon. Palate. Not a lot of peatiness. Smoky, pepper spicy and citrusy. Medium length finish mostly of smoke and black pepper.

Grilled shrimp and peat are the main things I get on the nose. Mouth feel is medium oily. Flavor notes are grilled seafood and dark fruit. Medium finish that turns to figs or dates. I prefer the Ardbeg 10 over this but it’s still damn good.
