Macallan Double Cask 12 Year
Single Malt — Highland, Scotland
Reviewed May 26, 2017 (edited September 3, 2017)Prefer this to the fine oak 12. Strong sherry presence on the nose some chocolate & rasians as well. More of the same on the palate with s gentle spice the finish is medium & smooth. A nice whisky went well paired with a undercrown gordito cigar -
Not my favorite glenfarclas I much prefer the 15 & 17 over the 21 & 25. Still a good whisky though a very light tasting scotch not overpowering on the sherry influence sweet fruity a touch of zest smooth on the palate with a touch of spice the finish was too short for my liking maybe I'm do used to drinking peaty whisky which I feel overs a longer finish slainte

Talisker Port Ruighe
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed March 28, 2017 (edited September 14, 2017)I really like the port ruigue it's alot softer than what you may be used to with talisker but the port casks finish works well with me. The nose gives out a light signature Seabreeze peat that you get from talisker sweet a bit of menthol. The palate again sweet chocolate smooth fruity the peat is subtle. The finish is short to medium with a touch of spice. I'm really enjoying this talisker but at AUD $104 it is a tad experience for a daily dram still ill be buying another bottle when this one is done another good whisky for those warming up to peaty whiskies -
I haven't tried many irish whiskies but I thought I'd buy a bottle of the 18 for St Patrick's day while I was on holidays. An extremely easy whisky to drink probably the smoothest whisky I've drank to date. So much sweetness from the nose to the palate even my wife commented on the strong taste of honey & caramel. I enjoyed the 18 & will definitely buy another bottle I think it would be a good dram to introduce my freinds to who are interested in exploring my expensive habit. 😆

I fell in love with the iwai traditional at our whisky club tasting a while back. matured in 4 different casks bourbon sherry American oak & mizunara oak. It is a pleasure to drink from nose to finish. On the nose you get sherry sweetness fruits & a hint of peat the palate brings a complex variety of flavours again sherry fruits more woody oak than peat & cedar/cigar ( this might sound wierd but the i get a little reminded of the smell of my humidor from the taste) but again ever so slight the finish is medium to long. One of my favorite NAS japanese whiskies

Glengoyne Cask Strength Batch No. 002
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed March 8, 2017 (edited March 19, 2017)Lovely whisky i rate this about on par with the abundah. Fruity on the nose heaps of sherry I get plums a big sweet sherry hit on the palate with a long spicy finish 🖒 -
Saw this hiding at the back of my whisky cabinet so thought id have a night cap dram. Talisker is alot different to what you get in a laphroaig or ardbeg in terms of peatinesss.Wiith the 10 I get sea breeze brine & a touch of lemon. On the plate brine saltiness peppery spice & little zest & it feels a little oily on the tongue. The finish is nice & long salty leaves the mouth dry I feel the peat more on the finish rather than on the palate. I'd still take the laphroaig or ardbeg 10 over this but I do enjoy & will replace the empty bottle soon 😆
