Still Austin The Musician Cask Strength
Bourbon — Texas, USAReviewed October 4, 2021With the cask strength, it comes with a lot of heat and a heavy bite. I couldn’t put my finger on the forward note, but reading the review, menthol nails it. With that comes a little tobacco. Texas is putting out some good whiskey, this is no exception.
Journeyman Distillery Silver Cross Four Grain Whiskey
Other Whiskey — Michigan, USAReviewed January 16, 2021This is a very tasty whiskey. Maybe I’m biased because I’m from SW Michigan, but this whiskey hits the pallet and provides that moment of “this is something special”. I really like it.
Peated Single Malt — Islay, ScotlandReviewed December 25, 2020This is delicious! The flavor profile is like a grudge match being played by the peat and smoke on one side and the fruitier notes from the sherry cask on the other side. The match will be headed to OT because neither side dominates. It’s that well balanced. Like any good OT match, the finish is long and every moment a joy to experience. To me this is perfectly executed.
Balcones Texas Pot Still Bourbon
Bourbon — Texas, USAReviewed November 19, 2020The alcohol is forward and the flavor takes a back seat and seems compressed like it can’t break free. This is the complete opposite of what Balcones usually delivers. The corn flavor is soft and pleasant but too muted. Vanilla is also on the pallet. The finish floors the trend like it’s trying but just seems to run out of gas.
Balcones Baby Blue
Corn — Texas, USAReviewed August 7, 2020I’m impressed with most of what Balcones produces. The Baby Blue is no exception. It have a nice mouth feel and a smooth combination of flavors that include the signature corn flavor along with peaches up front and in back but with a mixture of vanilla, butterscotch, and toffee dancing in the background all the way through. This is a perfect drink for me on a Friday when I fire up the grill for dinner and look forward to the weekend.
Glen Scotia Victoriana
Single Malt — Campbeltown, ScotlandReviewed August 6, 2019Tastes like a dirty peach, but in a very good way.
Arran 18 Year (Limited Edition)
Single Malt — Islands , ScotlandReviewed January 3, 2019Very sweet and fruity.
Heaven's Door Straight Tennessee Bourbon
Bourbon — Tennessee, USAReviewed December 31, 2018Creamy vanilla custard and candy canes. Smooth and enjoyable. A little soft during the finish.
Wild Turkey Longbranch
Bourbon — Kentucky, USAReviewed December 21, 2018I enjoyed this bourbon. Being from Texas, I was looking forward to our influence, which I found to be subtle. Many classic flavors, especially the corn, which comes to the forefront. Worth a try.
Blade and Bow Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USAReviewed November 11, 2018Lots of vanilla, apples and cinnamon. A little nutmeg. This is a robust bourbon that fills the mouth, has a seat and hangs out for a bit. Enjoyable.
