Very light on the palate; vanilla, honey, and caramel present throughout each sip. Fruity with a slight hint raisins on the nose. This one does not venture far into the deep end of the pool, if at all. Noticeable absence of the smoky peat and medicinal notes in more complex single malts. Albeit, it’s an easy sipping single malt at a reasonable price that one could justify as their “everyday” scotch.28.0 USD per Bottle

Pleasant to the nose; I definitely capture the initial sweet notes. A little smoother than I expected, however a bit of spice on the finish. Notes of caramel, hint toffee and a smidge of banana nut bread. This is one in the OF line I would not hesitate to purchase again.59.99 USD per BottleHokus Pokus Liquor - Alexandria

Old Grand-Dad 114 Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 24, 2023 (edited December 2, 2023)The high rye mash bill is front and center and the 114 proof provides a little heat as one would expect. Notes of faint vanilla, caramel, hints of cinnamon, and fresh tobacco. I enjoy Red Man so this was a no-brainer for me, but enjoyable. If you enjoy the company of some spice with your bourbon, this spirit checks that box. The price is right in my area of Texas and this bourbon continues to be a regular in my liquor stock.29.99 USD per Bottle -
Aberlour 12 Year Double Cask Matured
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed January 3, 2023 (edited December 14, 2023)Notes of honey crisp apples and cinnamon. No mistaking the sherry cask in this one either. Not a complex single malt, but pleasant nonetheless. Soft and smooth; a nice addition to my collection72.0 USD per Bottle -
Old Overholt Bonded Straight Rye Whiskey
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 11, 2022 (edited September 26, 2023)Definitely picking up the nutmeg with hints of cinnamon. Dare I say notes of banana nut bread? Yes, I believe so and maybe a slight tease of black licorice. All in all, a tasty rye and easy on the wallet at just under $30. I would buy it again. -
Viscous in texture. The heavy peat and smoke lend to the prominent medicinal notes. These same notes tend to linger on the palate for a bit. Although brief, a hint of honey and fig do make an appearance. I would not recommend to the novice scotch drinker. This one is full-grown and makes it’s presence known, both on the nose and the palate. I would anticipate one will either love it or remember to avoid it if offered. Made me want to paint my face blue, don a kilt and broadsword and scream “Freedom!!”

Old Forester 100 Proof Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 26, 2022 (edited June 17, 2022)Vanilla and caramel notes immediately noticeable with a slight hint of black licorice on the back end. Soft on the palate; a very pleasant sipping bourbon. Would not hesitate to make this one of my go-to bourbons. Definitely a hidden gem for the price. -
Initially sweet on the palate. Hints of candy corn and caramel. Honey crisp apple also detected on the front end with delayed banana notes on the finish. A couple of ice cubes tame the heat and open it up a bit. Surprisingly delightful; not at all what I anticipated. Very pleased and definitely a keeper.
