The Prideful Goat 6 Year Cask Strength Rye
Rye — Indiana , USA
Reviewed April 15, 2022 (edited July 8, 2024)Spicy with not much sweetness (probably from the 95/5 mashbill). A bit of a bummer as I was excited about this brand, but in a blind tasting it came in 3rd of 3 up against Alberta Premium and Templeton 6 year). -
Ironroot Harbinger Single Barrel Cask Strength
Bourbon — Texas, USA
Reviewed April 14, 2022 (edited July 6, 2022)Mike is actually 65.1% ABV (130.2 proof) but drinks under that proof point. The nose is full of honey and maybe graham cracker with just a hint of cinnamon and some nuttiness. The palate follows suit with the nose and finish is loooooooong. My first Ironroot, and I’m intrigued by their line up now. This was an excellent pick from Bethany Discount Liquor on Allen, TX.60.0 USD per Bottle -
Wilderness Trail 6 Year Bottled in Bond Bourbon (Wheated Bourbon)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 13, 2022Smoke, leather, and tobacco on the nose. It’s younger age really shows on the palate with a lot of ethanol and not much of the fruity notes that typically shine in wheaters. This had a lot of heat on the finish, but the finish did have some length to it, which was nice. -
Blanton's Original Single Barrel
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 6, 2022 (edited April 11, 2022)Not as good as I remember it being the first time I had it. My palate has likely just evolved over time. Oak and caramel on the nose. Light, creamy vanilla on the palate. Fleeting, but enjoyable finish. All in all, probably not with the hype/hunt, but fine at MSRP. -
Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch A122
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 3, 2022 (edited October 1, 2022)Lots of caramel and sweetness on this one. Very yummy and drinks without a ton of ethanol burn despite its proof. -
Smoke Wagon Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Indiana (bottled in Nevada), USA
Reviewed March 18, 2022 (edited July 3, 2023)Lots of oak and dried fruit on the nose. Orange peel and leather on the palate. And the finish is brief but enjoyable. All around solid. -
Michter's US*1 Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 21, 2022 (edited March 13, 2022)Honey and vanilla on the nose. Sweet, floral, and fruity on the palate. Finish is short-lived, but enjoyable. Very easy drinking bourbon.
