For a bourbon thats wine aged finished… I’m impressed! Its smooth, spicy and complex. I like the subtle rye spice. It smooths out through the course during the session. Some complex notes come through. Vanilla and some feint notes through wine aging give a smoothness that help this high proof break the glass ceiling. Overall… 9/10 I’ve had other wine cask finish that are cheaper. Still, this is very good and worth the cost

Rye is something different for sure. I mean… they call it a Kentucky Hug for a reason. Just think big, warm, and hurts. With the proof next to 120, you WILL feel the strength!! Yet, I am surprised the flavor maintains rich and present within the higher proof. I detect spices like clove, almost reminds me of a Djarum Black Cloce Cigars. A friend got out bananas, which I seldomly pick out. The oak really stands. 6 in the barrel shows the wood.

MB Roland Kentucky Azul
Tequila Reposado — Pembroke, Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 16, 2023 (edited September 1, 2023)“This 100% Blue Agave spirit is pot distilled and then rested gently in our Kentucky bourbon barrels” - MB Roland site Its what it is, cask strength bourbon barrel aged tequila. Legally cant call it tequila so its “KY Azul” I love bourbon, and tequila… and this brings them both together in some symmetry never experienced. One side, you have the smoothness of the agave. Smooth and floral The other hand brings the rye spice, oaky presence from the barrel. At cask strength. This is a doozy, and needed to be drank in sips. I have found similar agave creations being aged in bourbon barrels. This one so far is my first, and still favorite. The complexity to it is unlike the others. Either the rye isnt my level of desire, or the rye over takes the agave. But thats just my opinion. 4.5/5 its great, but cask strength does make it overwhelming too. If it were closer to 80 proof, that may be the deciding factor50.0 USD per BottleThe Party Source -
An above decent bottle. The typical mash bill I prefer is ~75% corn, ~15% rye, and less than 10% barley. To me, thats a good range of sweetness, and spice with that candied note in the background. This delivers exactly on that. Bit, its lacking in a complex profile. Its a bit lighter, but still good for the price27.0 USD per BottleThe Party Source

Espresiones Corazon Bufallo Trace Aged (2022 edition)
Tequila Añejo — Jalisco, Mexico
Reviewed July 1, 2023Bourbon barrel aged tequilas are becoming a new favorite for me. I already like Corazon regular anejo and reposado. This just adds more to the smooth taste with some bourbon to the mix. This is very smooth in the front, fruit and oaky all the way through. Hits a little in the back like a good bourbon should. A great tasting tequila, but I would definitely try ti find it at a bar to sip. It is WAAAY to expensive to justify the cost. I found similar tasting barrel aged tequilas in reasonable pricing. -
