This is a different animal. I am mind blown about the comparisons about this not being worth the markup over original Seagrass. These are entirely different whiskeys. Like SFTB compared to Blanton’s SiB. They’re apricots and oranges. The fruit is evident and it’s the apricot that shines on this particular expression BUT - and I can’t stress this enough - everything is secondary to the barrel age on this, almost unheard of, 16 year old RYE whiskey. It’s almost as enjoyable to smell it as it is to taste it but once you do - the barrel char and age - totally hidden on the nose - burst to the forefront. The char-grilled fruit finish still lingers as you read this. I’m confident this will be in my top 5 most memorable whiskies of 2022. This is extremely complex whiskey. This is a whiskey you say “damn that’s good” each time. At $225 a bottle, buy on sight. This is a steal if you’re ready to truly stretch your palate.

Initially bitter this beaver sac really opens up if you let your mind do the same. Notes of grain, clove, and even sour berries emerge. It’s young and it shows but at this proof and volume it’s all about the experience and novelty. Pick it up. It’s a fun change of pace for the palate.

This is my third time tasting this dram and ready to review. I’ll say, it’s most helpful to warm up for this one. Typically, I warm up for a high proof but this pour requires an alert palate. I’d suggest 2 wildly different expressions then dive into this beauty. This is a wildly floral dram. A bouquet of bourbon. Literally roses on the nose and rose water on the palate. There’s booze too and you’ll love it. The palate and finish are seemless. A flaky cinnamon pastry, airy, a hint of lemon. Crazy overpriced in the lobby of your hotel but you buy it every morning you’re there. This is: - Savory - Viscous - Complex - Floral - Spring This is not: - Traditional rye - High proof - Exceptional out of the blue - Inexpensive - Wintery

Cask strength wheated whiskey. I know Welle..what you’re thinking. Holy shit. Welcome to Washington Whiskey. Pretty irresponsible of Dry Fly to make a 130+ proof whiskey that drinks at 110 proof. I guess the rules are different up in the foggy north west. Where do you get off with a top notch nose and vanishing but pleasant finish? The palate is spectacular and uniquely woody to boot. Im appalled. At $55+/- God forbid a novice gets ahold of this and thinks its “run of the mill” or “on the shelf whiskey”. Lock this shit up with the Sudafed. Specialty barrel 7yr 132.8

This is a big boy rye. Big fruity nose that carries over to the palate. Very smooth for a cask strength rye. If you’ve got some cash to throw around, throw it at this.

Fruity sweetness with a curious young heat. This is good stuff and it’s really grown on me. Unique flavors at an especially reasonable price point.

Smells like a finished whiskey. Tons of vanilla and fruit. A bit smoky but not overdone. Finish leaves me reaching for more. The experts are drunk on this one. Buy it and try it.

Tasting alongside Makers 46 original Nose 46: bright cherry, playful ethanol. Inviting. 46CS: oak, brown sugar, vanilla. Means business. Curiousness in a adolescent sort of way. Palate 46: fresh, light, and talented. Like a budding athlete with a chip on their shoulder. 46CS: suckling on a fresh and porous barrel stave. Dense. Time. Dives for the corners of your mouth. Finish 46: easy in, easy out. Smooth and approachable to all but the dreaded scotch drinker. 46CS: hangs out for a bit. Like a bud dealer with good conversation. Pleased while it’s there and buzzed when it’s gone. Overall 46: the Subaru of whiskies. Practical, affordable, dependable but not something you’ll see in most driveways. 46CS: the DeLorean. Transcends time with flavors beyond its years. Head tuner but only to those who know to look for it.

Wanted this bottle for a while. Finally pulled the trigger. Tobacco and prune own the palate. Rich in flavor and body. I’m used to a bit more sweetness but the finish is exceptional. Classic bottle for your bar but probably won’t buy it again.
