Reviewed September 18, 2019 (edited November 1, 2019)Nose: Brown sugar, toffee. Buttery, bready biscuit. Pepper. Fruity, slight banana. Maraschino cherry. Cereal grain. Cardamom, clove. Palate: Brown sugar. Buttery biscuit. Black pepper. Bright fruit. Peppermint in the very back. Beautiful perfume fueled by alcohol. Notes: this is the one that started my journey. Big, bold, flavorful. An easy pick for me. If I could, this would be my daily drinker. -

Knob Creek Small Batch Bourbon (NAS)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 16, 2019 (edited January 31, 2020)Nose: barrel and char, buttery biscuits, brown sugar. Pepper. Faint vanilla. Palate: brown sugar, oak, barrel. Tannin. Vanilla in the back. Toasted biscuits with vanilla. Dark fruits in the back. Other notes: this is my favorite daily drinker. An honestly impressive whiskey for the price, but not overly fussy. Enough to go exploring, but doesn't demand your undivided attention. -
Buffalo Trace Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 16, 2019 (edited September 17, 2019)Nose: honey, vanilla. Oak. Strawberry and banana. Faint malted barley. Oak. Palate: Fruits with honey. Vanilla. Brown sugar. Oak. Pepper. Barley. Round and soft with some splashes of brightness coming through. -
Nose: alcohol burn. Vanilla. Oak. Caramel. Browned butter. Mild bright citrus. Palate: classic bourbon, though intense and concentrated - vanilla, oak, char, peanut, marischino cherry. Tannins for the mouthfeel. Cinnamon, clove, nutmeg all show up for the party. Faintest suggestion of a hint of banana. Hot. Punchy. Rich and coating. The finish takes it's sweet time, showing some honey. Other notes: if I could find this for MSRP, I'd have a bottle on hand at all times and I'd be drinking it much more often. Intense, rich, almost decadent. The proof is scary high, and it definitely drinks like a high proof bourbon, but it serves a purpose. One of my favorites.

Nose: Vanilla, brown sugar, faint marischino cherries and fresh peanuts. Clove, nutmeg. Palate: Oak, oak, oak, vanilla. Tannin. Banana, peanut. Hot. Black pepper. Barrel char. Not going to lie, it's great. But almost over-oaked. There's a near wet cardboard quality that creeps up and almost ruins everything. The sweetness helps, but this is not a perfect whiskey. A great sip, nonetheless.
