Fresh apples nestled in a charcoal basket with pepper blossoms on the nose. Sweet candied chillies on the palate gives way to a brief kick of spice and then mellows to pepper… A sweet bourbon, the higher alcohol gives this dram a elegant mouthfeel which I found to be lighter than I expected. Not bad and a fun one to have on hand for something a bit different.

Vanilla and stewed pears on the nose. Some cinnamon and a hint of smokey vanilla on the palate. The finish is short and a bit peppery. Overall… I just found that it was all a bit thin and it didn’t live up to the “no burn” statement on the bottle (surprise surprise). While this is a value whiskey, for the same money I’m happier with Black Bottle or Monkey Shoulder.

Reviewed June 9, 2022 (edited July 30, 2022)Hay, honey and stewed pears on the nose. Rich cinnamon and tart apples on the palate. The finish is smooth and warming with a slightly creamy texture. The stewed fruits return a little later for an encore.
