This whiskey is like a scoop of apple and vanilla Ice cream covered in chili caramel sauce and topped with a sprig of mint. Sweet caramel and mint on the nose. The palate is sweet and spicy warming up to a full creamy mouthfeel. The finish is a strong pepper and chili spice, fading as quickly as it stings. Adding a little water brings out a little more apples and mellows the finish. Its a yummy whiskey and it has an especially fun mouthfeel!

This whiskey is like snacking on Cinnamon Ginger Brown Sugar fried Plantains. A beautiful dark color. This whiskey has a nose like fried plantains in butter and brown sugar. The palate is light and just a little sweet. The absence of a creamy mouthfeel is noted. It’s strange to say: the whiskey is “wet” like water on my tonge. But she more than makes up for it with a huge finish of plantains, vanilla, brown sugar caramel and warming ginger.

Rabbit Hole Boxergrail Kentucky Straight Rye
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 15, 2024 (edited January 25, 2024)This whiskey is like the first time your grandma handed you a bowl of warm fruit cobbler with vanilla ice cream. It’s new, interesting, familiar, and comforting. Plums and cardimum on the nose. The palate is sweet and the finish is like hot raspberry sauce over vanilla ice cream. -
Apples and cherries on the nose, like smelling a mulled fruit punch. Theres vanilla, ginger, and toffee wafting up from the glass. Cinnamon and and spice hit first on the palate then turns to fruit. The finish hits hard — a sudden rush of chilies and black pepper overwhelm at first, then give away to mint and sun tea. This one will need some water, I think. With some water, the nose brings some molasses to accompany the cherries and apples. The palate is sweeter. The finish, less spicy and mellow. A tasty bourbon with some depth and nuances to explore. Yum!

TINCUP 10 Year American Whiskey
Other Whiskey — Indiana (bottled in Colorado), USA
Reviewed January 8, 2024A big helping of char on the nose. It’s fresh, sweet, and reminds me of vanilla, butter and brown sugar being melted in a pot to make toffee to dip Granny Smith apples into. The palate is sweet and the finish has wonderful spice and pepper. A yummy burbon that’s perfect for sipping or for mint julips. Lots to explore here.
