Henry McKenna 10 Year Bottled in Bond Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed June 9, 2024 (edited July 12, 2024)There is an alcohol kick on the nose with a subtle vanilla spiciness. On the palate the caramel and oaky flavors really give a heavy mouth feel, almost oily. There is a slight cocoa tart cherry note before the finish kicks in. The finish is very long spicy and citrusy. Its one that you feel the heat long after you have finished your sip. Its a perfect neat sipper if you can get your hands on it. I live in an area where this is still easy to find, but the price has crept up over the years. For what I paid its still reasonable, but this bourbon gets anymore hype or wins more awards it will go the way of Weller 12.58.0 USD per Bottle -
Very thin honey sweetness on the palate with almost no hint of oak or age. The finish is very quick with little to no burn. This is a very approachable bourbon, so for some experienced bourbon drinkers it might fall a bit flat especially for those who like high proof. For the price there's way better out there.59.0 USD per Bottle

Wild Turkey Rare Breed Barrel Proof Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 2, 2023 (edited April 13, 2023)I really picked up the oaky notes with some pleasant chocolate cherry flavors on the palate. There is some pleasant burn on the back end with a smooth red pepper long finish. It doesn't quite coat the mouth, but you do get a little of that oily feeling. To really take in all of the flavors have it neat and don't take large sniffs when trying to pick up notes as the proof can overpower the senses. Its a fantastic bourbon that any whiskey fan should try at least once and get a full bottle. It punches well above its price point.45.0 USD per Bottle -
Sweet Maple Vanilla Caramel. Rye spice with some burn on the back palate. Its for those who like a rough borderline harsh bourbon. It seems hotter than the stated Proof on the bottle to be honest. It worked very well in egg nog as the spice of the bourbon played well with the nutemeg in the egg nog28.0 USD per Bottle

Its fruity, but more citrus forward than some other congacs I've tried. The finish is quick with a very slight oaky burn on the back end. It leaves the mouth with a slight dry feeling. Its a perfect sipping congac and for this price its worth giving it a shot. Its probably the best Congac in the 30 dollar and under range. If you have a Total Wine in your area they really push this one hard30.0 USD per Bottle

On the nose there is a light floral honey note and the palate is just the same. The finish is quick and the mouth feel is very thin. There is no oak or spice to worry about and its not that complex. If you are a bourbon nut Id pass on this and pick up the higher proof or barrel offerings from Four Roses. This is just a typical mixer shooter type of bourbon20.0 USD per Bottle
