Woodford Reserve Double Oaked
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 10, 2023 (edited February 19, 2023)Nose- chocolate chip cookies, coffee, banana, oak, leather. After first sip I get cherry, leather, and the crispy edge of fresh brownies Palate- Kentucky Derby Pie (brown sugar, pecans, butter, chocolate, and vanilla), oak, light spice Finish- medium, vanilla, cherry, oak tannins, leather, tobacco, some bitter coffee I’m sure it has been stated before, this is dessert in a glass. I love this after a good dinner as a “little something sweet”. This would be 5 stars for me if the proof point was 100. I think it could use just a little more proof heat.59.99 USD per BottleFairview Liquors & Fine Wines -
Nose- caramel, nutty, ethanol, oak, pastry dough, strawberry Palate- Vanilla, spicy proof with cinnamon and pepper, oak, nutty, caramel Finish- short to medium, thin, dry, pepper and vanilla A single barrel store pick coming in at 119 proof, this wheated bourbon hits harder than it’s proof. I found that a few drops of water really helped open it up and mellow it a bit. Hot and spicy sipped neat. A real treat with a bit of water.49.0 USD per BottleFairview Liquors & Fine Wines

George Dickel 9 Year Single Barrel
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee , USA
Reviewed February 10, 2023 (edited February 11, 2023)This is a store pick “9 year” that was barreled on 06/07/2007 and bottled 11/01/2021 after 14 years 4 months and 25 days. I paid $47 plus tax. Nose- browned butter, caramel apple, oak char, roasted nuts. After the first sip and going back to the nose I got vanilla cake batter, dandelion, and honey. Palate- Werthers butterscotch, vanilla, apple, oak, cinnamon sugar, and light char. Finish- is long. The palate follows through with vanilla, oak, tart apple, cinnamon spice, oak char and some old leather shows up on the end. This is an excellent store pick that has a complex nose and well balanced palate with a long, oily finish. If I had to give one negative impression it would be that I wish it was a few proof points higher that the 98.3 it was bottled at. This is an excellent whiskey and a new favorite for me.46.99 USD per BottleFairview Liquors & Fine Wines -
