Parker's Heritage Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon 24 Year
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 12, 2019 (edited November 21, 2020)The nose is intense with freshly cut wood, spearmint, some allspice and leather. It is a very intriguing nose that gives a lot of curiosity to the palate. As it breathes, it opens up and becomes quite an alluring smell. The palate is very woody, but in a pleasant way. Behind it is black pepper, cinnamon and a touch of cherry. The finish is medium, not nearly as long as you might expect. There is fading oak and vanilla, with the pepper and spices fading quickly. As it breathes even more, the whole experience mellows further. Interesting sipper, but lacking depth.Toutant -

The palate is dry and sweet with caramel and cinnamon up front, and the oak and vanilla right behind it. The finish is long and has a dry oakiness with fading caramel, cinnamon and citrus.Toutant

Maker's Mark Cask Strength
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 10, 2019 (edited January 14, 2019)The nose is sweet of dark brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, a little bit of oak and has a slightly grassy and lemony quality to it. The palate starts off peppery and slightly dry and grassy, with salted popcorn, vanilla, cinnamon, dark brown sugar, hints of cooked caramel, cocoa powder and honey. The finish is medium long with fading pepper, cocoa powder and cinnamon balanced by vanilla and oak, while the sweetness fades. Very drinkable for cask strength, but could do with a bit more aging. -

Crown Royal Hand Selected Barrel
Canadian — Manitoba, Canada
Reviewed January 9, 2019 (edited May 16, 2020)The nose is gentle considering it’s alcohol level, with soft oak, vanilla, butterscotch, rye, and hints of mint, lemon and gingerbread. It coats the mouth gently with oak and caramel which turns into a creamy butterscotch with gingerbread, baking spices and a bit of vanilla and maple. The finish lingers with fading baking spices and pepper that leave the mouth tingling, along with the slightest bit of mint and maple underneath vanilla and green apple. Slightly complex and excellent. -
