Might be our favorite which is a surprise. Really wasn’t familiar with Benriach and had the impression that it was of “lesser” quality. Nope, we were wrong. We did a tasting at their distillery outside of Elgin. Love the unusual tinge of sweet that comes through from the rum barrel. The “smoke” from the peet is just right. Preferred this Smokey 10 over the 12. A winner.

We purchased the “wee” bottle at the Tobermory distillery on Mull after our tutored tasting. Really good. Not overwhelming with the peet and hints of sweetness. A winner

Bought on the recommendation of the clerk at the spirits store in Magherafelt, Northern Ireland. I wanted an Irish single malt I hadn’t seen at home and it is okay, not great. Very floral and honey on the strong nose but not as harsh as the nose might suggest. Kind of harsh with a warm and lasting finish.

Really yummy. A little peet with a warm finish, slight sweet.

Really smooth and buttery with a hint of the rum barrel that comes through. On sale at Bev Mo for $38!

Pretty harsh, not well developed. Can’t really discern any rum at all.

Really good for the price. Easy to drink with a surprisingly long finish with some heat.

Middle of the road, nothing very distinctive.
