Tastes

The nose is full of sweet like flan or toasted toffee. The palate is shines with the port flavors coming through, it finishes sweet and smooth with an easy warmth.

Very light on the nose with honey. The palate is smooth, with honey and peaches. The finish is short and smooth. This is an easy opener for a flight or for those new to scotch.

On the nose there is baked cinnamon apples ,caramel, hard candy with faint iodine and bandaid scents. On the palate this is oily, baked fruit, peaty, and smoked poultry. It finishes with a briny campfire, iodine, and a sharp warmth.

On the nose it's butter and floral. On the palate it's sweet, butter, honey and quite creamy and full. The finish is smooth and light.

On the nose is the unmistakable briny, smoky, medicinal Laphroaig with an almost saffron scent; the sherry influence is noticeable. On the palate it's full, peaty, campfire, bandaids, medicinal, cinnamon and meaty. The finish is smoke, sherry, a good dry oaky warmth. The time in the Pedro Ximenez sherry cask definitely takes some of the edge off of this whisky compared to the Laphroaig 10. This should get better as you get further into the bottle.

Vanilla, light honey scents and tropical smoothies, the tropic ocean spray hits the nose. The palate is not thin but perfect for a hot summer's day with toasted coconut and spice. It finishes with spice and dry oak and tingling warmth that's not too strong.

On the nose it's caramel with mellow fruit scents, I do not get smoke on this nose but I'm used to the Islay monsters. It's chewy on the palate with cinnamon apple sauce and the finish is baking spices and a nice warmth.

This is vanilla pudding and honey on the nose, full with floral notes and fruit on the palate. It finishes smooth with an oaky spice.

The nose is smoke, seaweed, and apples. On the palate it's full and oak smoke, but not overpowering or edgy. It finishes with a campfire and grilled pear, with a good warmth. This is not as bold as Ardbeg 10, more refined than Laphroaig 10, and reminds me of Lagavulin 8. This Islay is a good everyday peaty dram.

This is a high fructose corn syrup PSA, this is a sweet whiskey. The nose is vanilla and cream and the palate is banana pudding and Creme Brûlée. The finish is sticky toffee with raisins. This is an easy sipping whiskey, no burn or smoke here.
