Caol Ila 12 Year
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed September 16, 2014 (edited September 11, 2015)Nose: Sweet smoke, old sea drenched wooden boat, old fishing nets, dried seaweed, sea salt, iodine - in short: old North Sea boat house. Great nose - this is IT! Taste: Strong, quite rich, salty and iodine rich taste, rounded aftertaste. Nice and "soft" Islay whisky, nose more exiting than taste. But great nose! -
Oban 14 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed September 16, 2014 (edited September 11, 2015)Nose: Rounded smell with quite a bit of pear fruit, "soft" smokey peat and hints of iodine and salt. A lovely whisky to just smell, again and again. Taste: Medium rich, the initial attack is quite smokey, the taste is drier than the nose lead me to think and the aftertaste is long, lingering on for almost a minute, revealing notes of liquorice and tar. -
Dalwhinnie 15 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed September 16, 2014 (edited November 17, 2019)Nose: Mild and slightly sweet nose with heather, honey and some vanilla. Gradually also showing quite a bit of peat. Taste: Rounded, nicely balanced, with a certain richness but still on the mild side. Well made and balanced with just enough bite to it.
