Glenmorangie Dornoch
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed October 4, 2016 (edited October 5, 2016)(Lot 60135, bottled 15.01.2015) Tasted 6 April 2016. Appearance: Light amber / light tea colour. Nose: Not very pungent, rounded, butter caramel (but still rather dry), wood, spices, some fruitcake. Even just a few drops of water seem to literally water down the nose of this whisky. Taste: Fruity, a bit spicy, initially quite dry. Fruitcake, wood tannins. Not very complex. Sweetness arriving in the finish, which is long. With a few drops of water it retains and even increases its wood spiciness and the finish seems less sweet. Overall: Nose and finish are its best features. Add no (or very, very little) water to this one. Overpriced. -
Bowmore 17 Year White Sands
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed January 11, 2016 (edited April 24, 2018)Very smooth and long. Little peat and even less of the typical Islay seashore related notes. -
Laphroaig An Cuan Mór
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed January 11, 2016 (edited January 19, 2016)The peaty, medicinal, iodine & seaweed rich nose is An Cuan Mor's strongest feature, followed by the mouth coating, peated, sherry-sweet taste second and finish third. Good, expensive and not entirely balanced. -
Corralejo Reposado Tequila
Tequila Reposado — Guanajuato, Mexico
Reviewed December 26, 2015 (edited December 7, 2017)Nose: Rounded, fruity (agave), smokey oak, white pepper. Taste: Quite rounded, rich, again a lot of agave fruitiness but more rounded than on than the nose. Long aftertaste. Some complexity. Quite nice. -
Teacher's Highland Cream
Blended — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed December 8, 2015 (edited April 7, 2017)Nose: Peat, sherry, honey, vanilla and some citrus. Also, further into the smell, some not so attractive synthetic notes. Taste (needs a few drops of water!): Peaty and peppery. Traces of mint and chocolate. Quite nice. Finish: Medium long with pepper, chocolate and cereal but also some bitterness at the end.. All in all a very nice (for the price) everyday, peated dram! Good value at DKK 139 / EUR 18.50 (less than half the price of Johnny Walker Black Label).
