Tastes

Pretty disappointed in this rye. I was expecting a bit more from the spirit after reading the reviews. Complete lack of spice that I’ve come to expect from a rye. Instead there is an overpowering taste of vanilla. Almost such that it’s like drinking diluted vanilla extract. This will hardly hold up as the sole whiskey in a Manhattan, so I’ve been forced to add other superior eyes (high west’s double rye for instance) into the cocktail to make it tolerable. This won’t have a permanent spot on my shelf.

One of my favorite whiskeys to enjoy on the rocks. The smell does well To hide it’s strength at 120 proof. Bold flavors of caramel and vanilla, with a strong and deep taste of oak. Slight burn in the finish. Complex and always enjoyable.

Dominant nuttiness, pecan and notes of oak. The finish is a bit spicy.

Slightly less spicy and a bit sweeter than HW’s double rye, but incredibly smooth and balanced. It’s nearly double the price point so something I’d prefer to sip than mix.
