My favorite Macallan..afraid if it wasn't for the toasted american oak cask I wouldn't like it..not much into straight European oak cask whiskys..i like bourbon cask..love the vanillin from the white oak that European oak doesn't give off..not in favor of straight sherry cask that macallan often favors..but complex..vanilla, honey, chocolate, butterscotch, berry, fig, malt, brown sugar, pear, apple, citrus, plum, grape and other hard to pin down notes..good job for macallan on this one although still not a fan for price...

Tomatin Legacy
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed September 13, 2019 (edited August 27, 2020)This is actually a good one for the price..shocked for a budget malt..vanilla, heather, malt, bitter semi sweet dark chocolate, oak, very slight butterscotch, caramel, pear, apple, hair of citrus, raisin, plum, kind of like a white grape and easy on the palate..def a decent speyside.. -
Good..one of my favorite blends with a age statement behind Johnnie Walker Black..vanilla, honey, butterscotch, toffee, caramel, heather, pear, apple, raisin, hazelnut, malt, grain, citrus and very shy peat..smooth..hardly a bite..definantly a speyside blend with a very very small hint of islay or island smokey whiskies added..

Laphroaig 10 Year
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed September 13, 2019 (edited September 14, 2019)Best scotch in the world..changed my view in the world of whisky..its a real scotch..true islay..you either love it or hate it..this whisky is so different..love the big peat smoke and vanilla from the straight American oak bourbon cask used..white oak works wonders compared to the European oak cask..heavy peat, very smokey, iodine, salt, brine, dirt, mineral, ocean water, seaweed, char, malt, oak, floral, heather, hazelnut, ash, sweet, pepper, ginger, mint, tea, raisin, prune, herbs, veggy, liquorice, lemon, orange, grapefruit, pineapple, pear, apple, plum, berry, apricot, melon, spice, cinnamon, oils, tobacco, tar, vanilla, caramel, toffee, honey, cream, molasses, chocolate and butter..complex..rough in taste but smooth in texture..long finish..not for beginners..you got to have taste to be able to taste what this whisky has to offer..
