Whistlepig 10 Year Small Batch Rye
Rye — (bottled in) Vermont, Canada
Reviewed January 30, 2022 (edited April 13, 2022)Incredibly smooth, especially chilled, with great flavor. Drink it straight or makes a fine Red Hook. -
Velvety texture is the best part of this. Almost chocolate taste for me, some but not a lot of fruit, not very complex. Only a hint of port comes through but it is definitely there. A bit too harsh for the delicate flavors. Would probably not buy but it was good education experience to try port caskings (I bought a glenmorangie sampler pack)

Transported me to the ocean. Very interesting scent, felt like I was standing over a rocky shore kelp bed, before the more traditional scotch flavors kicked in. Light smoke, didn’t notice at first until I searched for it. Maybe not my personal favorite flavor profile but definitely experiential especially for a very cheap bottle46.0 USD per Bottle

Very smooth and gulpable but short finish and tbh not that exciting. I’m by no means a scotch expert but this feels like a good first scotch for someone who doesnt like burning. I bought it on sale at Costco so price was very reasonable. But not that memorable of a bottle and I won’t buy again.330.0 USD per Bottle
