Wilderness Trail 6 Year Bottled in Bond Bourbon (Wheated Bourbon)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 25, 2020The 4 year very much underwhelmed me, young ,light and short. I would have thought that 2 more years in the barrel would have improved this whiskey on all levels. Alas, no. Mostly the same, minimally more there. I am rating it lower as this is $20 more for very little return. Wilderness Trail has upped the ante and is barreling a lot of this whiskey. The problem is they are still asking craft distillery prices. Not sure who is going to be in the market for craft quality, craft price whiskey that is commonplace in 4-6-8 years. -
Bulleit Bourbon Blenders' Select No. 001
Bourbon — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed September 6, 2020 (edited December 19, 2020)Nose has cinnamon and candied cherries. Palate follows suit, full and rich on the lips and tongue. The fruit lingers nicely and finally yields to the spice at the very end, leaving a nice warmth in the chest. The proof is just right for this whiskey, lower and you might lose the length of the fruit, higher and the spice would take over. Bulleit is not a favorite of mine. I have found them to be fine but not exceptional. This is a standout and makes me look forward to the next offering. -
Alcohol, peanuts, prunes and a slight grassiness on the nose. Palate starts with that Jim Beam peanut brittle with the Bookers proof providing heat and spice, fading to tobacco. Somewhat short finish ends with a bitter note which really takes away from this bourbon. The price of Bookers continues to climb through the roof while the product has seemed to be phoned in over the last couple of years. Good, not great.

Reviewed August 22, 2020 (edited September 6, 2020)Nose is an apple pie with caramel topping. Fruit persists on the palate and a mild heat in the roof of your mouth and warmth in the chest. A very approachable whiskey. Very similar to the first release. Slightly mineral aftertaste.41.0 USD per Bottle -
Knob Creek Single Barrel Select (Missouri Customers) W-1 F-5 R-5
Bourbon — USA
Reviewed August 13, 2020Fantastic nose. I get candy corn, oak, and leather. Palate starts spicy. Cinnamon fades to cocoa powder. I do not get the usual Beam peanut flavor. Fairly hot. -
Larceny Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch B520
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 7, 2020 (edited September 25, 2020)Nose is immediately old leather, followed by light apple and smoke. Palate starts spicy and slightly fruity changing to intense cocoa powder and slight smoke. Not a long finish. This one benefits from some ice, cutting the bitterness of the cocoa powder. The heat lingers in the chest -
Wild Turkey Master's Keep Bottled in Bond 17 Year
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 7, 2020 (edited August 8, 2020)What a nose. Sweet cherries and cinnamon. Fantastic, almost worth the price just for that. I was worried about what it might taste like as I saw several reviews that said it was over oaked and bitter. I got neither. This was a cinnamon bomb that got better with every sip. The cherry was there as well and lingers for a long time. This is a solid whiskey. I have the first Master's Keep which was similar but lower proof. This is what I hoped the first would be. -
The nose brings memories of a Payday candy bar, strong peanut and sweetness in the background. The palate leads with peanut and follows with yeast and when you let the whiskey linger on the tongue, there is an intense sweet cinnamon. As the intensity fades, the finish returns to peanuts. Jim Beam through and through.

On the nose I start with cinnamon then I get salty caramel. Don't breath too deep, the alcohol will take over. A hint of chocolate, then cinnamon and heat that lingers. This is nice. The Russell's clearly pick to a flavor profile. This is a lot like Kentucky Spirit but higher octane. The alcohol is more forward so ice helps bring out the flavors.
