Larceny Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch A124
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 25, 2024 (edited March 26, 2024)Nose is apple butter up front but also brings orange citrus and cloves tempered with a good amount of cream of tartar. The palate feels thick, reading that same spice with cinnamon added. I'm not gettong a lot of fruit which I usually get with wheated whiskies (including Larceny). Finishes chocolatey. This is very clean for a barrel proof whiskey, not very hot. Finish does end a little chemically, though. A swirl of ice did not seem to bring the fruit forward but did accentuate the chocolate on the finish and negate the chemical taste, brought a woodiness to it as well. It seems like HH has been honing in on the Larceny BP's since they introduced it a few yeara ago. It's been getting better every year. I like this rendition.65.0 USD per Bottle -
Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch A124
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 25, 2024 (edited March 26, 2024)Nose is pleasant, but a bit weak for this whiskey. I get caramel and leather, a touch of cinnamon apples and barn hay with just a hint of chlorine. Palate brings the same with spicy black pepper. Finish lingers but is bitter, maybe bittersweet chocolate. This doesnt bring a lot of depth to me. I added ice, swirled and immediately re-tasted. It did cut the bitterness, but did the same to the good flavors. This may be me being over critical after a superb 2023, but this is probably my least favorite ECBP in the 12+/- years I've been drinking it. I really hope this is an anomoly and not the start of a trend. I've seen too many whiskies drop off with the rise in popularity. I see this is the youngest I can remember and maybe the lowest proof too? I hope ot os not a sign of things to come . First regular EC dropped the 12 year label, and not ECBP isn't even close. Fingers crossed, HH knows this is a bug let down and corrects course. Don't be the next Bookers!80.0 USD per Bottle -
New Riff Malted Rye Bottled in Bond
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 17, 2024 (edited March 18, 2024)Nose is very herbal and sweet bbq sauce. Palate screams rye. I get toasted rye bread andanise, but sweet as well. I also get Mexican chocolate. Herbiness is present as well. Finishes with the peppery chocolate, nice but a bit short. Overall, this us a very nice rye. -

Booker's Bourbon Batch 2023-03 "Mighty Fine Batch"
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 6, 2024 (edited March 7, 2024)Nose is sweet and nutty with a slight soapiness. Palate hits withpeanuts and icing. A nice spice level as well and good heat. Peoper lingers on the lips for the finish. -
Nice nose, light. Freshly sliced apples, sweet cherries, and burnt sugar and a touch of wood. Palate follows suit, a very easy 115.84 pr. Apple butter comes through sweet and fruity. A touch of raw pie dough and cinnamon is present. Finish is a bit disappointing, very short. Overall I like this as a sipper and think it woulld be a nice intro to barrel proof for those acclimated to 80-100pr whiskies.75.0 USD per BottlePlaza Liquor

Old Ezra 7 Year Full Proof Straight Rye
Rye — Indiana , USA
Reviewed February 28, 2024 (edited March 1, 2024)Nose has notes of caramel and herbs. Palate hits with hot pepper which lingers. Along the way, sweet salted caramel, anise, and coffee candies make an appearance. Finish is a little bitter. Ice killed the nose, but eased the rough edges on the palate nicely, bringing cinnamon foward as well. This bottle brings together the notes from MGP's 95% and 51% ryes making it quite interesting. I'm not sure the sum is better than the parts, however.72.0 USD per Bottle -
Woodford Reserve Master's Collection Batch Proof 123.6
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 16, 2023 (edited December 17, 2023)I've had this bottle for several years and mostly use it in blind tastings. Just now realized I never wrote any notes on it. For the proof, the nose is light, but very nice. Cherries, prunes, cinnamon, cotton candy, and hay, but does not fill the sensory with alcohol. The palate follows suit with a slight floral note. Spice dominates but still very balanced. Finish is medium, with cinnamon fading to light apple. Less cherry than I usually pick up from Brown Foreman. Definitley over priced, but more nuanced than Old Forester 1920, and the bottle is gorgeous.125.0 USD per Bottle
