Tastes

Strong oak char with wheat and malted barley. Taste is light vanilla carmel with oak char and wheat and barley forward. Not a lot of spice as there is little or no rye in the mash bill. Kinda of woody and dark with a bit of alcohol bite in middle and smooth finish. Is a nice sipper with a different profile at medium price from some great new friends.

Total wine bottle #2273. Starts smooth buttery with sweet carmel note. Slight rye spice which is surprising as this is supposed to be a high rye bill. Burn is there from the proof but is just about right. Overall would say for the price this is a nice sipper that is above average.

Nose is a woody smoke with hint of mushroom. Front of palate is quite spicey and rye forward with strong pepper spice. As it works its way back it smooths to a sweet vanilla with a slightly spicey burn. Overall if you like a high rye count there is much to like. Not really my favorite but still a good sipper when in mood for a bit more spice.

Starts with sharp rye note mellows to sweet fruity carmel notes. Hint of the beer barrel in the middle of the pallet with a warm spice finish. Overall a bit more complex and is a good sipper with a bit of spice. Good choice for a moderate price whiskey.

Suprisingly good for the very low price. Classic corn forward sweet and carmel up front. Light on rye with slight burn on finish. Really cost effective daily sipper that needs no ice to be very drinkable. Update. Been drinking this for a with buffalo trace at number 1 this has fallen to bottom of my top 5. Just a little to sharp and woody on compared to others like buffalo trace or elijah craig.

Lighter color. Starts smooth slight sweet maybe a bit vanilla and toasted wheat up front with hint of rye as you go to back of your palate. Overall seems wheat forward and is a mellow above average sipper with a clean finish.

Straight up this one is hot with surprisingly smooth start that quickly turns into a spicy rye burn right through the finish. Has a strong carmel syrup start with hot rye spice finish. Ice calms it down a bit but rye finish still comes through strong. Overall this one is a real kick in the pants. I like these guys and spent a fair amount of time in the tasting learning their story. I would buy it again price was fair in the mid 30 range. Try it you might be suprised.

Pleasent woody corn nose. Smooth start with carmel spice and rye come through on the back side and a rye note thst explodes on the finish. Spicey finish and nice burn on back. Good sipper, as is, that can be tamed down and smoothed out with a little ice if needed. Exceptional price for an above average whiskey!

Nose has slighty sweet with hint of the maple syrup. Bit sharp first taste with spicy rye note. Not real smooth. Better as mixer than sipper. Finish brings slight maple taste forward.

Do not agree with expert review. This does not have a high rye nose nor is it high on rye spice. I find it smooth mellow with just a hint of rye. Smoke comes through on back side with a smooth fruity finish.
