Nose nice smokey with hint of leather. Smooth pallete with hint of sweetness. Has a touch of rye spice hints of carmel and herbs. Finishes smooth with pleasent aftertaste of smokey herbs and touch of carmel. Overall a really nice boubon but probably a bit overpriced in the high 50 range. Would probably put a bottle up just for the unique packaging.

New Holland Beer Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Indiana (bottled in Michigan), USA
Reviewed June 26, 2023 (edited June 27, 2023)1.75l $59.00. Nose is mildly woody and malt. Starts quite sweet on pallate with grain forward from the high barley and corn content as well as the extra beer flavor. Heat is there which seems odd as the rye count is quite low and proof is only 80. According to my research mash bill is 70% corn, 25% barley, 5% rye. The grain and beer really come through on mid pallete. Finish carries that burn to back. Is a middle of road sipper for an ok but not great price. Makes a good mixer with traverse city wiskey cherries and will keep it in my bar for those times i want a sweeter sipper.32.0 USD per BottleNew Holland Brewing - The Knickerbocker -
Nose is grainy bread. Starts with a sweet slightly carmel note with just a little bite. Smoke is very subtle with mid pallate being smooth sweetly complex with flavors of vanilla and carmel finishing with just the right amount of bite and heat. This is a good sipping wiskey and kind of reminds me of buffalo trace with a bit lighter note.38.0 USD per BottleTown Branch Distillery

Elijah Craig Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 10, 2023 (edited May 25, 2023)Mash Bill 70% Wheat 12% MB 10% Rye Now on my second bottle I am really starting to appreciate this bourbon. Nose is a bit sharp with a sawdust and touch of leather. Palate has a spicey heat that sticks around all the way to the back. That initial sweet vanilla taste at the front quickly gives way to a nice balance of heat and spice. The finish is warm. I am now concluding his whiskey closely profiles one of my favorites Evan Williams 1783 Small Batch. This will go into my regular stock.32.0 USD per Bottle -
Nice smoke sweet leathery nose. Pallate is smooth vanilla sweet with hint of spice. Finishes smooth and clean with just a nice little bite. This has quickly become one of my top 5 sippers and is a fair price for the quality. Has been a little hard to find here but lately i am finding it more frequently.26.0 USD per Bottle

Bluff Springs Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed May 5, 2023 (edited May 23, 2023)Nose is smokey oak sawdust with bit of leather. Starts with a sweet burst with a hint of carmel and vanilla and a bite of rye spice. Holding it at mid palete the rye spice explodes into a strong heat that goes down hotter than expected for the 90 proof rating. Would not call it smooth but it does have a certain oily feel. Think it could use a bit more aging to smooth it out and tame the rye. If you like rye forward for a pretty good price you will probably find this a nice sipper. For me I am not a rye fan and find this one to be pretty much one noted and lacking complexity and aging. Probably will not buy again.35.0 USD per Bottle -
Leather nose with just a bit of smoke. Palate sweet upfront bursting to rye spice with some heat. A hint of vanilla and light fruit comes through then gets overwhelmed by the spice in the back of the throat. Add ice ball expands the flavor and smooths it out a bit. Overall pretty good bourbon for the price if you enjoy stronger rye based bourbon. Not really my favorite but might make my top ten on as a nine or ten for now.32.0 USD per BottleTotal Wine & More

Nose is grainy with little smoke. Mash bill is 60 corn 36 rye and 4 malted. For a high rye i do not get as much spice as i would have expected. Starts with a touch of sweet on the front of the palete a little rye spice through the middle and finishes smooth with little to no bite. Overall not a bad sipper from a small local distiller.35.0 USD per Bottle
