Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch C921
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 14, 2021 (edited December 25, 2021)Very nice taste. I get a sweet caramel and spice balance. I also get a clover note. Drinks much smoother that it’s proof. -
WOW!!! Super unique rye. Nose: Maple, vanilla, pepper spice, traditional rye, marshmallow Mouth: Light maple, brown sugar, pepper, smoke, oak. Getting a crème soda flavor. Finish: Warm, spicy, slight sweet balance. Good depth and length. Rather smooth for a rye. This is a super unique rye. Never tasted one so sweet or with these sweet flavors. More common in a bourbon. The rye gives a full bodied and spice balance. I really enjoy it. Definitely would buy another.55.0 USD per Bottle

Russell's Reserve Single Barrel Bourbon 16-454 (The Party Source)

Reviewed December 4, 2021Nose: Big caramel, pepper, oak, mint, mixed berry, heat Mouth: Full, round, deep caramel, peppery spice, berry syrup, butter pastry, vanilla and powdered sugar. Finish: Pepper, warm all the way down. Nice hug. Minty fresh. The finish has great staying power. Overall: this is a very refined bourbon. It’s evident it’s age of 8-10 years. I love this bourbon. -
Wild Turkey Rare Breed Barrel Proof Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 4, 2021 (edited December 12, 2021)High proof that drinks well. Best of the Turkey. A few drops of water mellows it and brings out a completely different experience that is still enjoyable. -
Nose - vanilla, light maple syrup, hint of artificial cherry, grain alcohol, light green grass Mouth - medium to light density, sweet, vanilla and molasses, white pepper balance, soft wheat feel, traditional wheat smooth. A little more complexity than a Larceny shelver. Get a late touch of baking spices. Slight spearmint. Adding a splash of water mellows the heat, opens it up, brings out more spice, more light pine and oak, but also makes it less interesting. Finish - interesting, but not overly complex. Sweet, berry, small bite of spice, modest heat but enjoyable. Heat gets less modest with subsequent sips. Tongue and cheek numbness lingers. Not a punch of wow, but decent staying power. Touch of peanut on the linger. Overall - a great entry sipper. Doesn’t meet my definition of bourbon profiles. But I’d reach for it on an entry experimental night. Feels a little young, but refined for its age.
