Johnny Drum Private Stock Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 10, 2020 (edited December 29, 2020)Nose is sweet and fruity. Dry and oaky with a leather and pine. With almost a gin and juniper flavor, this dram offers a unique change of pace. Delightful in its differentiation. It’s not like any other bourbon I’ve had...in a good way. -
Jim Beam Distiller's Cut
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 10, 2020 (edited September 14, 2021)Nose comes up a bit empty and wanting. First sip is dry, spicy and leather. A bit astringent, the burn lingers in the throat and the lips. After a few minutes, the flavor opens to green apple, leather, and vanilla. I get the price point, but no thank you. -
Russell's Reserve 10 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 10, 2020 (edited October 30, 2020)Apples on the nose. First taste is more fruit, cinnamon, and syrupy caramel. Nice heat that lingers, but not unpleasant. Not too complex but very flavorful and a good mix of heat, spice, and fruit. Very good neat. -
Wild Turkey Kentucky Spirit Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 26, 2020 (edited November 7, 2020)Garfields store pick. Light and airy on the nose. Slight burn, just enough to say hi. Taste of oak, caramel, and floral notes. Flavor lingers nicely. A splash of water adds rye. Good drink. Rare breed is better. -
Nose has caramel, toasted oak, and a hint of leather. Palette is light without much aftertaste. Immensely drinkable but low on heavy flavors. Hints of earthy herbal tea, tobacco, butter and oak. Zero burn. None. Good sipper but without a burn, what’s the point? I’ll drink it again but without a hug, something’s missing.

Smooth start to finish. Nose has oak, vanilla, and fruit. Flavor marked by vanilla and banana, completely sweet and a bit syrupy, though not in an off putting way. Light burn but the flavor lingers on the tongue well past the hug. A splash of water kills the burn outright and is unnecessary. A lovely, sweet treat to drink neat.

Four Roses Small Batch Select Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 5, 2020 (edited September 6, 2020)Nose of chocolate, oak and leather. First sip is astringent that fared to oak, cherry, chocolate, and leather. Nice back end heat that doesn’t die too quickly. Good flavor neat. A splash of water opens up the leather and earthy tones the bite is lessened but still a welcome present. A much better sipper after a drop. Very good bottle. -
