Tastes

A tad too sweet for my taste. Honey, vanilla, and the faint whispers of peat. Demands an ice cube to tone down the vanilla. For blended under $50, I'll take Monkey Shoulder all day long.

Surprisingly complex for what I thought would be rough and cheap.

Unique. Immediately upon opening I get port wine notes. Fig, cherry pie filling, plums. Palate brings more of the same and some spanish cedar and white pepper. As a big fan of port wine, I'm glad this is a regular in their line. Sweetness from the Canadian wine make it almost too much. But with ice I think this will make a great sipper and cut the sweetness a bit.

Lighter than I expected, will need to try neat next time not on the rocks.

Really needs a little water to open up. Otherwise it's just taste young and hot and very little of the cask subtleties come through. After that it's better, but forgettable. Tastes more ethanol-ly than even the cheapest tulla.

Good stuff! Would drink again.
