West Cork Glengarriff Series Peat Charred Cask Single Malt
Single Malt — Ireland
Reviewed August 5, 2020Very strong peat on the nose. The peat does mellow out a bit after your nose gets used to it. Strong peat taste and very bitter at first taste. The bitterness lingers long after swallowed. It also masks any other flavor other than the peat. I added a bit of water to see if that helped, still bitter. Added ice and it did make it more palatable but still very bitter. Some people might like this if they like bitter like IPAs but just too bitter for me.7.0 USD per PourSeven Saints -
Kaiyō The Peated First Edition
Blended Malt — Japan
Reviewed August 5, 2020 (edited August 14, 2021)On the nose, hits with a strong peat smell with a hint of sweetness. Upon tasting I get the peat which immediately turns into the oak smoke. When the initial alcohol burns fades the oak mellows out into a very nice oak/peat flavor that lingers just long enough on the tongue before your next sip. Overall, very impressed with my first Japanese whisky.16.0 USD per PourSeven Saints
