Tastes

A little bit of peat in the nose, as well as wonderful sweetness and a hint of cinnamon. The peat does not come through in the tasting, but certainly there is some cinnamon and a lot of sweetness oh, particularly for a scotch.

Nice honey/vanilla nose. Strong bite, but strangely smooth beneath that. This is really not a sipping whiskey, though this rating is for sipping. That said, this is my favorite mixing whiskey.

This whisky has a wonderful nose, promising honey and warmth in its sweetness. Then it fails to deliver. This whisky is just there. It is the average looking teenager at the high school mixer trying to blend in with the wall. And it succeeds.

Sweet vanilla nose. On the tongue, that's still there with a strong fruit note. The finish has some spice to it, very flavorful and warming without attacking the palate. A few drops of water really makes it special. I am surprised that a bourbon so readily available is this good.

I only rate on whole numbers, and it was tough deciding whether this was a four or a five. it may move up as I have it more. I am not a huge fan of peaty whiskey, but neither the nose nor the tasting had an overwhelming taste of peat. It had some hints of butter, and a little bit of oil to my senses. it was spicy without burning. And the finish was neat and clean.

Just kind of there. Nothing noteworthy in nose, taste or finish.

Light nose, but the glass was not tulip shaped. It was spicy, and letting it linger a second brought out some floral notes with a fairly light finish. Adding a drop or two of water revealed some nutty notes.

A great sipping rye (and I do not usually sip ryes). Strong caramel, sweet nose. Spicy like most ryes, but sweeter with less burn and more warmth.

Very sweet nose. Very buttery flavor. Hints of caramel. Short finish.

While you can taste a slight difference between this and standard Buffalo Trace, there is not enough difference to pick it over Buffalo Trace.
