Powerfully wood-fronted, this borders close on "oily" territory. Being paired with this Italian food is the right move. Although the smell is a bit brighter with citrus notes, the age can mellow the night out in seconds. No need to try to break down the finish like crazy; think falling asleep in the rickhouse - wood again.

It's got the barrel age taste, but because the char on the barrels is #2, you get more grain taste than wood.

That's a spicy meatball. Barrel age is heavy, and the rye is spicy, yet clean. There might be some floral citrus hiding in the back.

Smoky and smooth, but not as overhyped as they say. Comparable to another whisky with colored names, and not quite worth the price.

Caramel on the very short finish, but otherwise boozy and a little bland, other than vanilla.

Smooth and clean like a rye, and then sweet like an aged rum. Pretty much worth the bottle price.

Lots of bourbon reminders here. Still the light body of an Irish/European whisky, with just a hint of smoke finish.

Miller/Bud light flavor profile; very thin, honey flavors known for Irish whiskys, but almost no wood notes. Non-peated Scotches have fuller flavor than this. Still a healthy warming feeling on the way down, though.

Smells of browned, well, brown sugar; a buttery molasses. Incredible cinnamon flavor, more powerful than any other rye. Almost a fresh cut grass or herb taste on the forefront. Finishes smooth like a Tennessee whiskey.
