Final Day No. 24! I have finally reached the last of the set. I must say this was quite an enjoyable experience. It had me looking forward to each and everyday. Perhaps, I will embark on next year's new journey if Flaviar decides to continue to adventure. On to the review! The nose had me guessing for a bit cause of the variety of senses triggered. I narrowed it down to burnt sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and barrel char. The flavor was very intriguing and somewhat more complex. At first, I received notes of caramel and baking spice. Third sip in I was able to distinguish another array of flavors in addition to the primary ones I listed. Barrel char, cherry, corn, and a touch of pepper emerged. This was most definitely the star of the set. They made the right decision to save this one for last. I may in fact grab myself a bottle once I deplete my next bottle. Thank you for those who have been following my journey. I wish everyone a safe and wonderful Christmas ๐๐๐ ๐ป Cheers! ๐ฅ

Stork House Straight Rye Whiskey
Rye — Germany
Reviewed December 23, 2024 (edited December 24, 2024)Day No. 23 Reaching the home stretch! One more to go! I was surprised to see a German whiskey added to the calendar. I was unaware they delved into whiskey making. I always knew them for beer. I was excited to try it and even more satisfied with my experience. The aroma started off with a vanilla cream essence. The flavor produced notes of chocolate, rye, hints of apple, caramel, and a prominent rye spice towards the lingering finish. A touch warm, but welcomed. A very solid dram indeed. I tip my hat to the crew at Stork House. -
The Wiseman Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 22, 2024 (edited December 23, 2024)Day No. 22 A little earth and baking spice on the bose. The flavor had an interesting mix of caramel, citrus, oak and leather. It went down fairly smoothly with some warming. -
Remus Highest Rye Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Indiana , USA
Reviewed December 22, 2024 (edited December 23, 2024)Day No. 21 This one was pretty interesting. With all the corn and rye added I was expecting those to be at the forefront. Instead there was a plethora of fall characters such as vanilla, cinnamon, caramel, and maple. The leather and grain came later towards the finish. Just to be clear, all these notes I got was from slowly and patiently sifting through the heat. In hindsight, I should've added water. But I didn't feel like getting off the couch at the time. To those that are more sensitive to higher proofs, I suggest adding water or a cube to let this one breathe. -
Westland American Single Malt
American Single Malt — Washington, USA
Reviewed December 21, 2024 (edited December 22, 2024)Day No. 19 This came off quite peaty. You got it in the aroma and taste. Not much else to report aside from the hints if leather and maybe dried fruit at times. -
Pinhook Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey
Bourbon — kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 20, 2024 (edited December 22, 2024)Day No. 18 2 days behind review wise, but am drinking these on the proper days. Holiday hustle and bustle. That aside, this is my first from this distillery. My first impressions were spicy apples. Spicy meaning a touch ethanol. There were hints of vanilla and a nutty essence at times. Not bad considering it came off a bit young. -
WhistlePig 6 Year PiggyBack Bourbon
Bourbon — USA
Reviewed December 17, 2024 (edited December 18, 2024)Day No. 17 The aroma was inviting with its sweet vanilla and baking spice characters. I was expecting my first sips to be spicy, but it was fairly smooth IMO. There was a combination of cinnamon, honey, and caramel flavors to be had. Afterwards, there was an emergence of leather and corn. Not bad at all! -
High n' Wicked Foursquare Single Grain Irish Whiskey
Single Grain — Ireland
Reviewed December 16, 2024 (edited December 18, 2024)Day No. 16 This was a deceptive one. At first, the aroma was off-putting. It was almost like smelling isopropyl alcohol. After letting it rest for a bit and taking my first sip, things changed dramatically. The nose yielded muddled mixed fruit with banana winning at times. A sprinkle of baking spice as well. The flavor expressed its rum barreling roots. There was a tropical influence with lemon leading the charge. Hints of coconut and clove lingered midway and towards the finish along with a side of ๐ฝ. An interesting and unique Irish for sure. -
Day No. 15 Checking this one in late even though I did in fact drink it on time last night. My first impression was that this was a touch hot going in. It opened up with corn and a honeyed character. I patiently waited for more, but it didnt get any more complex than that. I did get a touch of leather at times though. Definitely good for making cocktails.
