Not your typical rye! This one is all toasted marshmallow and toffee, a “dessert rye” if there ever was one. Smooth for the proof, a distinctly enjoyable option from Angel’s Envy. Purchased immediately after the distillery tour.

First purchase was 3 years ago (at $23.99) and I remember the concentrated flavor like a “red hot” candy. This bottle is less sweet, with leather/tobacco notes - enjoyable and perhaps a more mature statement?

Reminds me of Weller and other wheated bourbons. Sweet like caramel corn.

This is an exceptional bourbon. Notes of chocolate, toffee, tobacco, and vanilla followed by molasses and spice with a long warm finish. I usually take mine with ice, but this is smooth enough to sip neat.

Enjoyed this barrel proof as part of a tasting at my cousin’s house a few months ago. First time I ever smelled bananas on the nose of a bourbon! His was from a Kentucky liquor merchant who bottled a private barrel. It took some effort to find locally, but I did last week (2 bottles at Total Wine). Despite the proof, this is smooth and buttery with a long finish. Awesome stuff.
