Tastes

Smoke bomb. Briney and spicey, maybe more toasty than mossy. Water opens that smoke right up into something big and dry, more sauna than steam room if that makes sense.

What a blend. Lots going on here. Almost no smoke on the nose and then it really hits you on the taste. Hints of sherry casking, hints of sea salt. Water sweetens it significantly. I'm not sure if this is harmonious but it's certainly complex!

Spicy rye warmth on the tongue. It's very smooth up front but there's a late burn, a deep throat burn.

Ordinary-ass bourbon if you ask me but why would you?

Semi-blind taste. Smoke-forward but it's a bit of an artificial, cigar-like smoke with burnt tobacco vibes. Adding water dilutes the flavor but leaves the smoke. Very disappointed to learn this was Laphroaig and not like, Johnnie Double Black.

Semi-blind taste. Just a good, clean, straightforward Irish single pot still. Lack of complexity had me mistaking this for a blend, though.
