Knob Creek Small Batch Bourbon (NAS)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 30, 2019 (edited August 27, 2019)in France still has 9 yr. label as of March 2019E.Leclerc Tours -
the nose is soft, and slightly different than a typical bourbon. I'm guessing this is because the mash bill, they're using corn and Millet. It's pleasant but different from KSB. I'm not identifying specific notes which is interesting! The taste is sweet and dry with no rye spice. This is a smooth sipper that's pleasing and different... finish is a long short... atta boy chi-town! Next time I'm at Mission liquor in West Hills I'll pick up a bottle!55.0 EUR per BottleLa Maison du Whiskey - & Fine Spirits

Shenk's Homestead Sour Mash Whiskey
Other Whiskey — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed March 9, 2019 (edited August 3, 2019)1st dram notes from a 750ml bottle purchase... color - nice golden amber/copper, nose: it's bourbon and it's pronounced, not soft and it lingers for a long time. Taste: Cherry, chocolate, vinalla, carmel… it's a candy bar of sorts... Is this Willits or Noah's Mill? I know it's bottled by Michter's from the label and I know it's made in KY, that's all I know for certain. I like this dram a lot even if it's only 45% abv. Medium finish. I'll gladly polish this bottle off but at this price, I'll probably spend my money on others... 8/8/2019 update: at $69.99 it's a steal... I bought a second bottle!99.99 USD per Bottle -

Old Forester Classic 86 Proof
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 7, 2019 (edited May 10, 2019)I did a side by side of this and the OF store select single barrel (90 proof) and aside from having a cork and 2% more alcohol, there was no difference except $30. Go screwtop! No surprises on the nose, good bourbon smell but maybe lighter than say Trace or 101. Taste had a slight burn that gave way immediately to sweet maple/Brown sugar and light vanilla. Med. finish. A nice dram but nothing to write home about.17.99 USD per Bottle -
This is amazing juice at an amazing price. The nose is wonderful and proudly says: "Bourbon!" but the taste rises to the challenge and decides to exceed... There's rich brown sugar, butter(scotch), Carmel/vanilla and a perfectly balanced amount of competing spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, fruitcake) - the best of both worlds. This is no weak little garden variety tulip, this is a big boy and it's got a nice long finish. There's a little spice throughout that fades perfectly on queue. I'll have another!17.99 USD per Bottle
