After seeing mixed reviews on this I wasn't sure how I'd like it - glad I took the chance on it. Amazing bourbon. Needs a serious water cut to enjoy - I do about 1/3 filtered water to 2/3 whiskey for this. Incredible complex taste and finish. Lots of nice cherry notes in addition to the more typical bourbon flavors. Not for the novice drinker, but for an experienced palate this stuff is simply great.

Beautiful smooth whisk(e)y - not the most complex, but sweet, warm, rich and inviting. Warm notes of toffee, caramel, and vanilla. A little hint of mint on the aftertaste. Since this pretty much available everywhere and it's always good, it's become my measuring stick that I hold new bourbons up to.

Jim Beam Signature Craft 12 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 24, 2015 (edited February 19, 2015)This an excellent, sophisticated bourbon. Mild enough to be approachable by novice drinkers, while offering plenty of complexity for the seasoned bourbon fan. It's overlooked by bourbon enthusiats because of the Jim Beam name. Entry: Sweet, vanilla, marshmallow. Mid-palate: More vanilla, mild hint of leather, rye spice and fruitiness. Deep layers of flavor. Finish: Mild barrel char, more fruit, more hints of marshmallow. -
Evan Williams Single Barrel Vintage
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 24, 2015 (edited April 9, 2015)Real solid, but not sure the current offering (2014) deserves a 96 score on here. I think earlier years were much better. Still a very solid value. Very smooth, easy drinker, with strong pleasant hints of chocolate and walnut. This deserves a place on anyone's shelf, but the value bourbon king remains Elijah Craig 12. -
Jack Daniel's Old No. 7
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed January 21, 2015 (edited May 24, 2015)Connoisseurs on sites like this tend to pooh-pooh Old Number 7 since it's common, well known, and drank everywhere. But, there's a reason it's so damn popular: It's pretty damn good. A very solid, very approachable American whiskey that taken on it's taste merits stands well above it's perception by the 'whiskey connoisseur' crowd. Nose: Sweet caramel and toffee. Entry: Mild, full. Sweet brown sugar, vanilla, tons of banana taste, mild barrel char. Finish: More banana and sweetness with a lingering char/smoke. -
This may be the best value bourbon on the market. It's a little hot for beginners, but for experienced bourbon drinkers this bottle delivers an excellent experience at a ridiculously low price. Beautiful oaky nose hits you immediately. Palate entry is sweet with tons of brown sugar. Noticeable, pleasant amount of barrel char and toasted oak. Strong notes of caramel and toffee transitioning to sweet fruit. Finish is long and sweet, ending with more toasted oak.
