Take two drops of maple syrup. Whisk into cold water. I have just given you the mash bill for this bottle. My father tried to pawn his opened-but-two-fingers-low bottle on me as a great mixing whiskey, but I get the distinct feeling he was making room in his cabinet for another bottle of Blantons. Thankfully, I have friends who enjoy their whiskey with a can of coke, so the bottle didn't go wasted.

I tried this at a bar, first straight, then with a cube. Can't say it's a bad whiskey; far from it. But I couldn't get past the plumes of campfire smoke on the back end to the more floral notes I could tell were underneath. Maybe I'll try it again another time, but I'm guessing that's just me being polite to an inanimate bottle of whiskey.
