NEAT NOSE - Caramel and Green Apple PALATE - Extremely thin and while the notes from the nose transfer to the palate, they are very faint and leave as soon as they come. FINISH - Short. More minty than apple or caramel. BUY? Maybe; if you want to try it. At the price point, I can’t see it as being a regret. You’d also be supporting the environment/production of future barrels as they pledge to plant a tree for every bottle purchased. BUY AGAIN?? - Probably not.

NEAT NOSE - Cooked agave, faint caramel and vanilla PALATE - Smooth mouthfeel with no burn. The agave note is the most prominent and the caramel and vanilla notes are there, but easily missed. FINISH - Essentially no finish to speak of, but it goes down effortlessly. BUY? - Yes. BUY AGAIN?? - Yes. I’m just now getting into tequila so there is so mo much to try. While I won’t replace this bottle immediately after finishing, I do think it is worthy of restocking.

Green Spot Single Pot Still
Single Pot Still — Ireland
Reviewed January 24, 2024 (edited February 5, 2024)NEAT NOSE - Sweet Green & Red Apple and Vanilla PALATE - For me, the apple note is the most dominant. The mouthfeel is so smooth, just slightly more “oily” or viscous than water. This is a great introduction to whiskey for anyone in my opinion. FINISH - Surprisingly long. BUY? It’s a must if you’re interested in Irish whiskey. BUY AGAIN?? Absolutely. This deserves to be one that gets restocked to stay on the shelf. -
NEAT NOSE - The sherry cask shines through on the nose along with dark fruits and smooth, sweet vanilla and caramel. PALATE - Buttery smooth. The nose carries over to the palate with the influence of the sherry being the most dominant. FINISH - Medium-Long BUY? For the price point, absolutely. BUY AGAIN?? For the price, yes. I am tempted to buy the cask strength version If I see it but I’ll likely pass at the price point.

Still Austin The Musician Cask Strength
Bourbon — Texas, USA
Reviewed January 20, 2024 (edited March 14, 2024)NEAT NOSE - Rich notes of brown sugar and caramel burried in oak with a touch of vanilla. PALATE - Thick mouthfeel. Brown sugar, caramel, vanilla. I do get a bit of barrel char on the palate with a decent kick of rye spice. Moving this around on the palate a few seconds before swallowing definitely helps to lessen that kick from the rye spice. FINISH - Medium-long. On the back end, I get a minty-dark chocolate note. BUY? I know this is expensive, given the age statement, but hear me out. This is a craft distillery making some of the best whiskey in Texas (in my opinion) especially at the price point. BUY AGAIN?? Absolutely. I think it drinks pretty sweet despite the kick of rye spice. Also, there are single barrel versions of this which should make things just that more interesting. -
STORE PICK: Twin Liqours NEAT NOSE - Rich butterscotch note supported with notes of sweet maple syrup, caramel, and honey. I don’t get much oak on the nose. PALATE - Smooth, thin mouthfeel. On the palate the notes of butterscotch, maple, and vanilla are the most dominant. Honestly, its pretty complex compared to the distiller pick or regular shelf-er that you get. FINISH - Almost non existent unfortunately. BUY?? - If you like the regular woodford DO, don’t sleep on the store picks. BUY AGAIN?? - Yes. This is my wife’s favorite bourbon and we will continue to purchases store picks and see what they have to offer over the regular offering.

NEAT NOSE - Very rich and full nose. Hints of caramel, dark brown sugar, and buttercream vanilla frosting. PALATE - Rich flavor with some sweetness (vanilla and maple) and baking spices on the back end. Maybe cinnamon? FINISH - Medium BUY? - Yes. Great bourbon at a great value and proof. BUY AGAIN?? - Yes. I’d buy again, but I’m especially going to keep an eye out now for store picks.

Early Times Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 8, 2024 (edited July 15, 2024)NEAT NOSE - Reminiscent of a cherry coke on the nose with hints of vanilla and caramel. PALATE - Light on the palate. Thin mouthfeel. Notes of caramel and vanilla. FINISH - Short, but pleasant. BUY? - Yes. For the price, its worth picking up and guving a try. BUY AGAIN?? - I would buy this again. I don’t have the black top but if I’m lucky enough to ever find one, I plan on getting one to see the difference between the two that I’ve heard about. -
Sagamore Spirit Straight Rye
Rye — Indiana (bottled in Maryland), USA
Reviewed January 7, 2024 (edited April 8, 2024)BATCH - 12AJ BOTTLE - 0825 BY - LT NEAT NOSE - For the proof, I’m surprised this is so full on the nose. I would expect the nose to be more subtle, but it’s full and enveloping. I get notes of cinnamon, honey, and caramel. PALATE - Initially, there is a nice sweetness on the palate reminiscent of vanilla, caramel, and honey. As it develops on the palate, it transitions to a nice spice with some cinnamon and oak tannins. The oak tannins are noticeable, but not overpowering. The mouthfeel is thin and light. FINISH - Short and slightly spicy (rye spice) BUY? - I’m glad I picked this up, so I would say give it a try. BUY AGAIN?? - I’d buy this again as a daily especially at the price point. However, with how great this Rye is at 83 proof, I can’t imagine how great it would be at Cask Strength. My next purchase of Sagamore Spirits will for sure be their cask strength.
