It’s hard too call a $70 bottle a value, but at least in terms of the 2018 release, this drinks like a $200 bottle. Overwhelmingly rich and deep, it’s a bold & startling rye—personally, my favorite Knob Creek, period.

I dig the aesthetic of Old Grand-Dad more than the actual drinking experience, which is a little rough for me. I could like it more as a kind of drugstore barrel proof, but seeing it routinely at $30 now—it’s a hard pass for me.

I had a bottle I loved, and then a second that was inexplicably bad, the rye version of a flat diet soda. Three stars to average the two, but I’m wary from that second bottle.

I don’t mean to be a contrarian on this bottle, as the flavor is fine. But there is zero finish. Evaporates on your tongue. Nowhere near worth the $30 for me.

At this money…why not? Steady, serviceable pour.

I see no reason to ever want Wild Turkey at a lower proof. But if you ever do…it’s fine, sure!

So much going on here. I taste something different every single time, but right now it’s the delicious toasted marshmallow note I can’t get past . If you see one at face value, a must buy.

Solid. Chardonnay finish is understated rather than overwhelming, which I appreciate.

It’s actually startling that such a bright, sweet, full-proof head-turner could be at this price point. Lookout for this one.

Angel’s Envy Finished Rye has a maple syrup/Christmas morning thing going on that is so sweet, you have to think of it as dessert. This has that same kind of flavor profile, but without the sweet dialed to 11, with the right amount of heat, and the classic michter’s notes on the vertebrae. It’s the Christmas/breakfasty bourbon done right. (Spring 2021 release)
