Aberlour 16 Year Double Cask Matured

Initially the nose came in like a punch with tons of peat and smoke with a slight hint of citrus. My first sip same thing, but followed by a little ash’y taste that I am not a favor of. After adding a little water, the citrus took over the nose. The taste, still very peaty and Smokey, and still ash’y. Not going to find a spot in my bar.

*I Wish it was older* The nose, albeit it little too plain Alcohol powered, seems promising: Sweet oak, berries. My first sip gave me that ‘young spirit’ that I’m not a fan of. But as I enjoyed it, flavors of chocolate covered cherries became the more prominent flavor, even though you have to wait for that to hit. I
