Auchentoshan The Bartender's Malt
Single Malt — Lowlands, Scotland
Reviewed July 29, 2019 (edited March 9, 2020)Chocolate malt! Like warm rich chocolate spread over a warmed ginger cookie. The cocoa continues to linger, with a very impressive mouthfeel and afterburn. Really balanced, with a pleasant spice. Did I mention chocolate malt, lol, it’s the defining characteristic of this bottle -
Macallan Amber 1824 Series
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed July 18, 2019 (edited February 28, 2020)The most decadent nose of any scotch, period, end of story. Citrus, cherries, you name it, it’s all there. The fruit forward flavors is what dominate this, it’s like a fruit Sunday going down. Very tasty -
A burst of caramel and oak. You can tell they favored the wood forward barrels when selecting which one to bottle. Not as full as a mouthfeel as I would have expected, but an absolute treat on the palate, and a delectable lingering finish. Very happy camper here @thefrugalwhiskysnob129.0 CAD per BottleKelowna

I don’t know if there’s such a thing as perfection, but this is as close as it gets. It hits all my personal favorite notes. Rich, warm, vanilla, fresh fruit, and floral. Like a warm lemon tart with a dollop of vanilla bean ice cream. If I had to choose my last glass of scotch, this would probably be it

Compass Box The Story of the Spaniard
Blended Malt — Scotland
Reviewed June 22, 2019 (edited November 21, 2019)Delicious out the gate. Very ‘fruit forward’ with some very gentle smoke and a punch of acidity. Very happy with this bottle -
I like all things JW, but let’s be honest, this is junk...I’m ok with the bottle sitting on my shelf, but wouldn’t dare serve it to anyone again. The reason they want you to freeze it, it to hopefully mask the flavored, colored mix inside. Like, even if they had just put JW Black in there, everyone would have still stepped up to buy it, but having such a junk liquid was a real shame
