The younger brother the the Nikka 12, a little thinner but still possessing that nice sweet caramel apple freshness with a hint of spice. A little more alcohol heat too, muting some of the flavors from the nice nose.

Butter, caramel apple. Lots of fresh, bright flavors on the palate cute with some spicy sweetness, like peppercorns and berries.

Nutty caramel nose which makes way for a flavor not unlike candied walnuts with burnt toast. Nice cinnamon finish.

Smoky, sweet barbecue. Clove, nutmeg, anise. Spicy and youthful but the added complexity of the peated barley gives this expression an edge over the flagship. EDIT: Lovely prunes, winter spices, and smoke on a more favorable second tasting. (3.25 -> 3.5 stars)
