Glenlivet Caribbean Reserve
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed November 6, 2021 (edited November 20, 2021)An enjoyable, juicy dram. Full of fruity pineapple and sweet sugary flavours. Completely unchallenging but that’s what I like about it. -
Bruichladdich The Classic Laddie Scottish Barley
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed October 22, 2021With water this opens up a world of fudgey vanilla deliciousness. Sweet honey and melon leads to vanilla with a deeper sniff on the nose with sweet buttery fudge left behind on the palate after grass and a hint of lemon. Is that fresh mint too? Superb. -
Bruichladdich Islay Barley 2011
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed October 9, 2021 (edited November 25, 2021)Light, grassy and citrusy. Barley-led as it should be with this kind of provenance. -
Isle of Raasay Single Malt Batch R-01
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed July 11, 2021 (edited August 12, 2021)“Lightly peaked” - the smoke comes through on the nose. Rich toffee and dark fruits on the palate. Toffee apple and popcorn. A pleasing, long and sweet finish. Well-rounded considering it’s youth. -
2021 expression of this budget malt, aged according to the for 3 years in “oak barrels”. It’s colour bears no relation to a spirit of that age, with a rich amber pour characteristic of a dram with added caramel colouring. The profile is typically Islay: sweet peat smoke, toffee and brine on the nose; this develops on the palate with more seaweed and saltiness. Less aggressive than those from the south coast, whisper it quietly but is this a young Bowmore? Compared to drams of similar provenance, there’s little in the way of ‘burn’ or chemical aftertaste. Not shabby given the price.16.79 GBP per Bottle
