Old Forester 1920 Prohibition Style
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 31, 2021 (edited June 29, 2021)I can't keep my nose out of this stuff. It smells so damn good. Tastes like banana with hints of baking spices. Drinks well below its proof. I need to purchase a bottle to get a better understanding of the subtleties but my dram of a taste test turned into a few drinks. -

Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 8, 2021 (edited July 7, 2021)Spicy as heck, sweet finish. Toasted barrel is noticeable. Sawdust and marshmallows drizzled with caramel. A weird but complex profile that demands another purchase. Feels higher proof than it actually is. -
This has that classic peaty smoky flavor but it's contrasted against loads of fruitiness. Apples, bananas, pears. Tastes crisp and clean while having that smoky edginess. Very well balanced with its flavor profile and the proof is in such a great sweetspot. This is great to splash into other lesser whiskeys to give them a bit more depth. My bar always has a bottle of Ardbeg 10 year.
