Angel's Envy Bourbon Finished in Port Wine Barrels
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 12, 2024Syrupy pancakes, baked apple and cinnamon. Cherry. Vanilla. Oaky spice. -
Not much on the nose. Some citrus among the light wafts of alcohol. Initially not much flavour at all. A little bit of creamy toffee and peppery spice. The bitterness of the pepper lingers a little, but all in all a very muted (watered down) dram. Having said that, I wasn’t expecting much but it’s surprisingly smooth and sippable for the only whiskey available on a warm Egyptian winter evening.

Bruichladdich The Classic Laddie
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed January 5, 2023 (edited October 12, 2024)Very subtle floral and sweet pear on the nose. Feels like a familiar Islay in its brininess but without the smoke. Dry. Just a little fruit and honey sweetness shining through. Give it some time in the glass and the malt notes start to show. Spice and brine hang around for the finish.
