Rum casks have always intrigued me, but always seem to let me down. I thought Balvenie might be able to change that, unfortunately I was wrong. Is it drinkable? Yes, but the sickly sweet rum flavor tastes artificial and left me disappointed once more.

Classic laphroaig camp fire smoke. Not overpowering, and extremely enjoyable. Noticeable peat, hints of brine, notes of leather, pepper, and bacon fat.

Disappointed. Notes seem all over the place. Tasted young and harsh. Not what I was expecting for $70. Seems like a bottle that lives off the distillery’s name.
