James E. Pepper 1776 Straight Rye (100 Proof)
Rye — Indiana (bottled in Kentucky), USA
Reviewed December 30, 2020 (edited April 16, 2022)Light color. Spicy first sip. Smooth second sip, still a little spicy and sweet but indistinguishable. Third sip is maintaining a slight bite to it but it’s not harsh or bitter by any means. Maybe a little herbal? After a savory bite of meat, you definitely get the spice and maybe a bit of a floral taste. Tobacco, cedar and just a hint of molasses on the nose. -
Agitator Bourbon Finished in Red Wine Barrels
Bourbon — USA
Reviewed December 1, 2020 (edited October 4, 2021)Didn’t taste too much of anything in particular but that just strengthened my view that it’s a well balanced bourbon. A bit of sweetness along with the spice. A nice go-to bottle when you’re not sure what you’re looking for and just want a nice glass to kick your feet up with. That being said, I stepped outside into the cold crisp air and could all of a sudden smell dark fruit and vanilla coming from my glass. Agitator is a dark horse in the bourbons world and worth getting to know.25.0 USD per Bottle -
Wild Turkey American Honey
Other Liqueurs — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 21, 2020 (edited January 27, 2021)Sometimes you just need something sweet at the end of a long day. Perfect little sipper for any occasion and always good to bring to a party. Anybody (especially those who say they “can’t drink whisky”) can drink this one. Comparing it to the other honeys by the larger name brands, WT actually has the best balance of spice and sweet. JD is way too sweet and JM too spicy compared to this liquid gold. -
I’m still getting around to ryes in general but I liked this one pretty well. It’s definitely got the spicy kick you’d expect with some sweeter after tones that draw a bit closer to their bourbons which is actually perfect for me at this point. If you’re just getting into ryes also, let this be your standard by which you compare all others.

Wild Turkey Bourbon 101
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 21, 2020 (edited December 10, 2020)One of the best bourbons out there considering the price and accessibility. Just the right amount of spice and sweetness to give it that smooth finish and have you reaching for more. -
Heaven Hill White Label Bottled In Bond 6 Year
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 20, 2020 (edited June 10, 2022)Herbal, tart and floral. Individually, these attributes can be quite nice but when all three are fighting for dominance in one bottle, it can be a bit hard reach for that next sip.
