This was my first aged (10+ years) whisky. As such I have fond memories of it as it got the ball rolling. When I first opened the bottle it tasted like what you would imagine the flavor of a campfire being. I enjoyed that. As I progressed through the bottle the peaty and briny flavors stood out more than the smokiness. That ultimately left a bad taste in my mouth regarding the Laphroaig. I want to revisit the Laphroaig eventually and see what I experience the next time.

Dalwhinnie 15 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed February 26, 2016 (edited March 6, 2016)According to the flavor profile and the reviews I really would expect to enjoy this one. However, there was something about the finish that just didn't sit right with me. I think I should like the Dalwhinnie but for now I don't. I hope to revisit this bottle in the future and see if my taste has changed. -
