Tastes

It’s just not good. I’ve tried to like it. I have a drink, nope, put it back, try it a month later. It has never gotten better. There is half a bottle left and I’m done. A little Smokey, a little meaty, but this doesn’t work for me.

It’s pretty good. It’s just way too thin. Could use a higher proof. 7% more alcohol and this might be a winner. I bought the cask strength “Birthday batch” at the distillery. Too bad there was only 200 bottles of it. My guess is that’s where it’s at. Someday, I’ll open it.

I tried this today and it’s just ok. It’s not bad, but does little to stand out. Thankfully I just had a mini. If I had a fifth, it would be relegated to being a mixer.

I’m a fan. I read a bunch of reviews which are all over the place. On the nose, I get cherry and apricot. On the tongue, I just took a sip of a cinnamon red hold with a little bit of heat. A faint taste of cherry follows. This stuff is good.

I don’t have a problem with this at all. Cheap, daily drinker? You bet. I like the candy corn aftertaste. It’s not long, but it’s there. This is very drinkable. Need to try mixing it. Edit, this bottle got worse as I drank it. I had to bring my rating down.

I love it on the nose, nice and fruity. Sometimes this plays with my novice palate. Sometimes it’s really fruity, sometimes the unripe banana takes over. It’s almost grassy. I still love this stuff. It’s so light and pleasant to sip. There is always a bottle in the house.

I bought it based on the reviews, then saw one on YouTube from a trusted source. They weren’t fans. I was really apprehensive about opening it, but I finally did. It’s pretty good, not my favorite port finished whiskey, but not bad at all. Right time, right place, I’d bring one home again.

I wanted to like this. It’s just not my thing. It tastes a little dusty to me. It could use a little higher proof. For the price paid, I’ll pass in the future. There are better ryes for less money.

I heard a very divided crowd when looking at Angels Envy. The crowd that didn’t like it said it was too light and way too sweet. I fall In line with the other side. The level of sweetness from the Port barrels really compliment the bourbon. It’s not overly sweet at all. While it’s not heavy, it’s not light either. It drinks to its proof quite nicely.
